The problem

What the household was actually dealing with before we arrived.

The closet held thirty-one bath towels for a household of three, alongside expired medication, hotel sample toiletries, and bedding for a mattress size they no longer owned.

The process we used

Declutter, sort, optimize, applied to this particular room.

Counting is what makes this kind of job land. Thirty-one towels for three people is not a storage problem, it is a volume problem, so we set a working number together and kept the best of them. Sheets were folded into their own matching pillowcase, so a set stays a set. Medication was checked against dates and taken for proper disposal rather than dropped in the bin. What remained fitted on three shelves instead of five, which freed the bottom two for the bulk paper goods that had been living on the bathroom floor.
