AfterThe problem
What the household was actually dealing with before we arrived.
A narrow galley laundry was carrying cleaning supplies, light bulbs, gift wrap, tools and pet food alongside the washer and dryer. There was no clear surface for folding, so clean laundry moved to a bed and stayed there.
The process we used
Declutter, sort, optimize, applied to this particular room.
The room could hold two of its three jobs, not all three, so we decided which. Laundry stayed and cleaning supplies stayed, because both belong near a utility sink. Gift wrap, tools and light bulbs moved out to a hall closet and the garage. That freed the counter run above the machines, which became a folding surface with a drying rod mounted above it. Detergents were decanted into labelled dispensers, and one basket per person was added so folded laundry leaves the room the same day.
